A look back - On March 6, 1976, the No. 1 selling album in America was Frampton Comes Alive by British rocker Peter Frampton. The album costs $7.96 at Peaches Records and Tapes. Frampton is a former resident of Indian Hills, Ohio.

Extra Extra!

Every Friday, we offer The Peach Section, a salute to friends in northwest Ohio who grew up reading the Peach Section in the Toledo Blade.

Why The Peach Section? Because some traditions are too good to leave in the recycling bin.

Ohio’s Connection to Operation “Epic Fury”

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is playing a significant role in Operation "Epic Fury," which U.S. Central Command describes as the largest regional concentration of American military firepower in a generation.

The base has been central to shaping U.S. air power since the birth of modern military aviation.

Due to heightened security concerns, base officials suspended their Trusted Traveler program, but individuals doing business on the base can go here to register for a pass.

Glazed and Grateful: How Donuts Make You a Better Man

By Edward W

The top five donut shops in Ohio are listed below.

If you are a cool dad or hip grandfather looking to build a deeper relationship with your children or grandchildren, you are in the right place.

Sure, waterparks and bowling alleys are the traditional go-to spots for making memories, but let's be honest, most men over 40 have no interest in removing their shirts in public. As for bowling, nobody, regardless of age, should have to slide their feet into a pair of rented shoes marinating in a stranger's life choices. That's not a bonding experience. That's a biohazard. A fragrant, soul-crushing biohazard.

No, there is a better way. Consider the sacred ritual of Saturday donuts.

Just about every community in Ohio worth living in has a local donut shop that the locals rave about. And like a crew of utility workers on a muggy July afternoon, you can smell it before you see it. Take a moment and breathe in that warm, sugary beacon cutting through the morning air like a glazed guardian angel. If you let it, the aroma will consume your soul, rearrange your priorities, and make you briefly question every other decision you have ever made before 10 a.m. — including, possibly, having children in the first place. (Relax. The donuts will fix that, too.)

This is your place. This is your moment. Bring the kids.

The Pennant research staff compiled the top five donut shops around Ohio. (If you think we missed one, let us know: [email protected])

'Porky's' Topped the Box Office on This Day in 1982, and a Generation of Teenage Boys Was Never the Same

In the early 80s, millions of young boys felt that "Porky's" was a cinematic landmark. The high point in the film was when Pee Wee convinced a bartender to page "Mike Hunt" over a loudspeaker. To an entire generation of 14-year-old boys, this was the pinnacle of human achievement.
